Bitty Buttons are da bomb!!

Check out this cute button -- it can be any color I want it to be!! Stampin' Up's new mini catalog started May 1 and there are so many things in there that I love, but one of my favorite is the clear set of Bitty Buttons. There are four shapes — a circle, heart, and two little flower shapes — and best of all there is a set of three coordinating punches that go with the three shapes (no heart punch). My favorite thing about this whole concept is to just punch a piece of paper -- either printed in the case of this card -- or solid card stock. Adhere it behind the matching button (more ideas on that in a minute) -- and voila! You're got a colored button.

Here's the whole graduation card that I made for a wonderful neighbor using the Happy Grad individual stamp (item #117006). I used the Pink Flamingo designer papers (these have colors in the paper sheets that are retiring come June 30 so I know this paper will go quickly when the Last Chance retiring list comes out June 1).

For this button I wanted to show you my sewing trick -- a dental floss threader -- no craft area should be without these. The "eye" is big enough for ribbon or in this case crochet thread. I used a tiny dot of glue from a Two-Way glue pen to hold the button in place on the paper, then used a paper piercer tool to just punch through each hole on the button so the paper had holes that matched up. Then the floss threader "needle" was super quick for adding that white thread (which of course also holds the paper to the button nice and securely). I then attached the button to the card with a mini glue dot.

Here are a couple of more ways I've attached paper layers under by Bitty Buttons:

- a mini glue dot, it does not show that much at all, you have to look closely to know it's there.

- Crystal Effects: this clear adhesive dries very clear. A little dab on the paper then press on the button and it spreads and adheres much like a glue dot -- I did not find it very noticeable once dry.

LOL...my son has braces and these are so handy for crafting :) I'm glad someone else uses this technique too. It is a keeper, huh? Love your blog...thanks for sharing your great ideas!
