I just got home from SU Leadership training in Houston and the big news was that starting this July, SU will be replacing our main Idea Book and Catalog with TWO catalogs that come out in July and then again in January 2008! Each will have all different stamped samples, different hostess sets and there will be a retiring list from each catalog. So in December, you'll know what's retiring from the "Fall and Winter Collection" (the catalog's new name) and then in June each year, we'll get the retiring list for the "Spring and Summer Collection."
There will still be a mini catalog program as well, it will just be adjusted a little to account for the fact you'll already be seeing fresh products twice a year. There will be a Holiday Mini Collection starting Sept. 1, 2007 and what will be known as an "Occasions Mini Collection" in March 2008. There also will be two new Preview publications that you'll receive in the month before the big books come out so you can get a taste of what's coming. Sellabration is not going away -- but because of the new catalog in January, it will be moving to a different time during the year. We'll get more info on that and plenty of warning before the next Sellabration. And of course none of this impacts anything before this July. The only impact of the changes now is that the Spring Mini Catalog starting on March 1 will be good for FOUR months, through the end of June. There will not be a Summer mini under the new catalog plan.
There are many benefits of the change to bi-annual catalogs, including:
- You get fresh, in-season ideas and products
- There will be new hostess sets in each book, again to keep it fresh
- Sets that don't retire from one book will still be available for purchase even if they are not shown in the next collection. For example, if a Christmas set does not retire, but is not shown in the Spring/Summer Collection, there will be an easy to use website link that lets you view the set, and you can still order it "out of season." Not showing all the sets each time that are out of season, frees up space -- and of course you can still look at them in your Fall/Winter book. The main collections will be 208 pages -- about 50 pages less than the current catalog. I'm excited about these catalog changes and the opportunities they hold for really staying on trend. Stay tuned....
